Introducing Kelly Cooper

Kelly works primarily in oils to create artworks painted both plein air and in her studio. 

Her paintings are often engulfed in shades of green. She has always been aware of how completely this colour surrounds her, and how easily it could fade into the background. In response, her work focuses on observing the small and overlooked details that are missed when attention is fixed on the horizon.

By isolating specific moments and small patches of ground, she documents subtle seasonal changes and draws attention to the quiet complexity within what can appear uniform from afar. Her paintings encourage a more attentive way of seeing, grounded in the belief that even the smallest open spaces contain a world of subtle ongoing change.
